The Four Foto Friends (FFFs) is comprised of (left to right above) David Pincus (Southern California), Steve Wood (Rhode Island), Bruce Burtch (Northern California), and Rick Knapp (Ohio).  We have been friends for decades and every few years, since 1998, we rendezvous for a week devoted to friendship and the art we love (photography).

The book is published by Blurb and is pretty pricey but a beautiful coffee-table book. Volume 3 (California and Oregon) should be completed late 2024 or early 2025.

After our latest outing we hatched a plan to generate a three-volume portfolio of our best images: The Great American WestVolume 1 (Texas, Oklahoma, South Dakota and Wyoming) is complete and shared with you in a flip-book format – for free. The book is published by Blurb and is pretty pricey but a beautiful coffee-table book. Volume 2 (Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, and Utah) is scheduled for release by the end of 2023. Finally, Volume 3 (California and Oregon) should be completed the following year.

This book is part photo book and part a book about friendship. Includes photos and insightful and often humorous anecdotes from a variety of places including Death Valley, Zion, Bryce, Grand Canyon, Monument Valley, Arches, Natural Bridges, San Miguel de Allende (Mexico), Florida everglades, Grand Tetons, Yellowstone and other locations.

Our “working” holiday at a photography workshop in scenic San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, in November 2005 changed us in ways we never anticipated; in good ways, as it turned out. In ways that altered how we see a place and its people … and ourselves.

Our journey began as a convenient excuse for close friends living busy lives in scattered parts of the country (Rhode Island, Ohio, Arkansas, and California) to get together. In addition, none of us had been to central Mexico, and we relished the opportunity to explore a new part of the world…
