The Four Foto Friends (FFFs) is comprised of (left to right above) David Pincus (Southern California), Steve Wood (Rhode Island), Bruce Burtch (Northern California), and Rick Knapp (Ohio).  We have been friends for decades and every few years, since 1998, we rendezvous for a week devoted to friendship and the art we love (photography).

The Four Foto Friends, 3rd Edition – Our motivations for creating this book were many, each worthy in its own right. We envisioned it as a way to share and showcase our unique brand of intersecting friendship(s), as well as a symbolic joint toast to our many years as comrades, fellow travelers, and photographers. Even more than that, we believed that by sharing our photography adventures we just might help others discover the holy grail that we did: the shaping and building of enduring friendships. That process doesn’t happen overnight or even over a decade, but rather gradually, over spans of time, through shared experiences and memories.

Our “working” holiday at a photography workshop in scenic San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, in November 2005 changed us in ways we never anticipated; in good ways, as it turned out. In ways that altered how we see a place and its people … and ourselves.

Our journey began as a convenient excuse for close friends living busy lives in scattered parts of the country (Rhode Island, Ohio, Arkansas, and California) to get together. In addition, none of us had been to central Mexico, and we relished the opportunity to explore a new part of the world. This is also available through Blurb.
